The Modern Fire Trainer

Process Combustion Limited - Fire Training Systems

Simulators for fire fighter training can present particular difficulties. The traditional 'crib' fire using diesel and wood not only generates large volumes of black smoke, but when extinguished, leaves a large quantity of dirty, partially burnt debris. Once the fire has been extinguished, it cannot be relit.

Simulation fuselage fire on an aircraft fire trainer To overcome such problems, Process Combustion developed a range of LPG-fuelled fire training simulators of varying types and intensities, representing a wide range of situations.

Each fire is set, controlled and extinguished remotely by a control system. This allows the local training officer to fully control the fire and either maintain or extinguish the flames in accordance with the training requirements.

After shutdown, the system is immediately available for re-ignition to repeat the previous training exercise or, under software control, can be re-configured to simulate a new scenario.

Process Combustion fire training systems benefits include:

  • Clean combustion (no particulate smoke is generated)
  • Repeatability - as each fire is precisely controlled, the same fire can be set every time
  • Remote control - easy ignition, rapid shut down
  • For enhanced training and realism, artificial smoke can be added to the simulator
  • No mess - no partially burnt debris remaining
